Sensible You

Sensing the world – making sense

Through eyes of suffering

I’m always confused

Sensing the world – making sense

Through eyes of compassion

I, now truly understand

Sensing the world – making sense

I’m so sensitive, but that’s O.K

For, there is no other way.

Cedar Green

I am truly, truly fallen

A seed that fell into being

Onto my allotted fate

Alas, into weeds and thorns

What a life and tangle

Being so lost – I don’t belong

Must grow like cedars on the lawn

Upright, gracious and magnificent

So that I will always be found

In the depths of my garden.

Charge!

Like wild stallions

We cannot hold back change

Pasting over the ages

With up-market make-up

Or costly make-believe

Traditions, trophies, entitlements

Privilege, pride and arrogance

Let entropy be my dignity

Despite heart-wrenching fear

Or maybe it’s a visceral thrill!

For we’re riding on

Wild stallions full-tilt!

Congenital Love

Bound in love till death us do part

Not just in marriage but in familiar

Are not siblings this bond in flesh?

For better for worse

For richer for poorer

Let these vows be congenital

In sickness and in health

Such love, such values

Be our priceless inheritance

God’s holy law for all.

Edges of Existence

Don’t we all bear

The burdens of existence?

On many levels are yokes weighty

Together, as one, can we all share

Some the physical, others financial

Some the cerebral, others spiritual

If any one burden is neglected

Or held in less esteem – gravity

The less complete our humanity

Like the four legs of a table

Equal in strength and length

Or we’ll all slide off the edge!

Homeless

From the loving womb

Of our mothers

To the golden light of nursery

And blessed

Consecrated waters;

How can we not but be so sacred?

Even as the years pass

Knowing old

We make our beds low

On pavements cold

Consecrating bins

With faith untold.

Magnanimous

Magnanimous!

Measured only by light

And the years that pass;

Wherever I be

I am never alone

You precede me;

When you behooved

Animating our souls

The stars too were moved;

Wide, your footsteps reach

Between the gulf of men’s hearts,

I dare breach –

To realms known only to you,

I seek, but find,

Myself in you!

Your vast embrace,

Our mystery,

Deciphering majesty!

Knowing…

How small our problems are,

Before your Love – before ours.

Plural

A single tree is no forest

Nor grassy mead

Green blade’s behest

A solitary bird nay flock

A mount is just a pile of rock

Never the majestic range be;

What am I but a human being?

Singular is but insular

I cannot claim Humanity

Make virtue from plurality

When alone

Without the other

Like a child

Estranged from mother

Lone plover

With no flock to cove’

Nor discover

My brooding love

Until one’s other had embraced

A greater humanity graced

Love, I doubtlessly had unveiled

I welcome as brother, availed.

A Beautiful Word

Between Alpha and Ωmega

Your life became word

Spelt and writ

Within riddle and encryption;

Life’s dictionary page en-script

Qualify-able description;

Your subscription – life conviction

Meaningful depiction: be-scribed –

Loudly with exquisite diction!

For life speaks well of your unction

Your most elegant word offered

For an eloquent world proffered.
