Many Lives
Ancestors
In my flesh and bones
When I am hurt
I hear weeping
With fear
I feel a shudder near
When I jump
To whom joy belongs?
Their happiness
Is much as mine
When I think
’Tis they that inspire
With their effort
I now perspire
’Tis through my eyes
Their visions clear
And whispered wisdoms
Through my ear;
What did suffer
Yet survived fear?
It was I
And many lives dear.
